"THE RIDE" NOMINATED FOR PRESTIGIOUS
MONTE CARLO FILM FESTIVAL AWARDS
CCI Entertainment Ltd., (Cambium Catalyst International) and Mirkin Creative
Inc. are pleased to announce that the TV movie, "THE RIDE", which aired
on Canada's Showcase Channel, has been nominated for consideration in the Television
Films category for the Monte-Carlo Film Festival.
THE RIDE is a two-hour TV-Pilot movie, produced by Arnie Zipursky and Lawrence
S. Mirkin and written by Paul Dreskin. Featuring, Yaphet Kotto, Ron White, Vincent
Corazza and Rachel Crawford, THE RIDE was directed by Canada's Steve Dimarco.
THE RIDE is a fast-paced, unpredictable journey that follows the lives of
taxi drivers through darkness, hope and longing into a city as diverse as the
characters themselves.
One of fifteen films worldwide named for this year's awards in five categories
- best picture, writer, director, actor and actress - THE RIDE is the only North
American movie to be nominated. "It's a great honor for the film to be nominated
for consideration at the prestigious Monte Carlo Festival," says producer
Lawrence S. Mirkin. "We have our fingers crossed that the artists who contributed
so much to it will receive further recognition for their work." Arnie Zipursky
indicated, "We are very pleased by the recognition at this prestigious festival
as welto advance "THE RIDE", as a dramatic series".
As of 2002, the Monte Carlo Television Festival will present a newly designed
program dedicated to celebrating the creative arts from July 1-6, 2002. The July
Festival will replace the Monte Carlo Television Market and Festival previously
held in February. The Festival will feature a star-studded international awards
program with expanded categories, premiere screenings of television programming
from around the world, panels, workshops, and certain market-related activities.
THE RIDE has been Produced in association with SHOWCASE TELEVISION and with
the participation of the CANADIAN TELEVISION FUND, Created by the Government
of Canada And The Canadian cable industry. Produced with the participation of
the COGECO Program Development Fund ROGERS CABLE, NETWORK FUND, CAVCO Government
of Ontario & The Ontario Film & Television Tax Credit.
