STOLEN LIVES AND SCATHED TO PREMIER AT MIPDOC

CCI AND ODD SQUAD PRODUCTIONS READY TO SHOWCASE GRIPPING DOCS

CCI Releasing is proud to be bringing Scathed and Stolen Lives, two riveting reality-based documentaries produced by internationally acclaimed Odd Squad Productions, to MIPDOC in April. Available for the first time, these films offer an honest look at the devastation caused by auto theft and crystal methamphetamine use, two of the many dangerous temptations faced by today’s youth. Following in the stream of other Odd Squad projects such as the award winning films Through a Blue Lens and Tears for April: Beyond the Blue Lens, these documentaries are a must-see for all youth and parents.

“We are so pleased to be able to distribute these informative and edgy documentaries,” said Jill Keenleyside Executive Vice President, Distribution, CCI Entertainment. “Both films address extremely topical subjects in society today that should be a part of a global dialogue.”

Scathed (30 x 1)takes an in-depth look at crystal methamphetamine, the highly addictive narcotic that has created a deadly epidemic among youth. The story is told by teenage users, health-care workers, as well as police providing a harsh dose of reality that will educate and inform.

Metro Vancouver provides the backdrop for Stolen Lives (30 x 1), a high-impact documentary that delves into the criminal act of stealing cars. Winner of 2007’s Founders Choice Award at the New York Independent Film Festival, Stolen Lives reminds viewers that all too often someone pays the ultimate price.

Odd Squad Productions
Odd Squad Productions Society (OSP) is a voluntary non-profit society with its head office in Vancouver. It has developed a unique approach to public drug education, community policing, and crime prevention through the development and distribution of video material and documentary production. OSP initially acquired its expertise regarding the drug problems through the extensive beat work of the police officers in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES), an area tragically inundated with many social problems. It became apparent to the members of the squad that the life experiences of those people beset by drugs should be shared through video education with students and other young people. OSP believed that such an educational process could have a positive impact on preventing many youngsters at risk from entering the drug culture.
