MY OPPOSITION: THE DIARIES OF FRIEDRICH KELLNER TO BE SCREENED AT TORONTO JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL
CCI’S Award Winning Documentary Comes to Toronto

CCI Entertainment, producers of My Opposition: The Diaries of Friedrich Kellner are pleased to announce that the award winning documentary will be presented at the Toronto Jewish Film Festival. Held at the Al Green Theatre on Tuesday, May 6th at 7 pm, the screening will also feature a discussion by Dr. Robert Scott Kellner, the man responsible for keeping his grandfather’s diaries alive.

The documentary tells the dramatic story of Friedrich Kellner, who campaigned against the Nazis before the war and continued to oppose them even after Hitler came to power.  As the chief justice inspector in the district courthouse in the small town of Laubach, he secretly recorded Nazi crimes.  He was called before a Nazi tribunal and threatened with imprisonment and death, and yet Kellner continued to risk his life with his writings to alert coming generations to the dangers of totalitarianism and intolerant ideologies.

The film also tells the remarkable story of Friedrich Kellner’s grandson, Dr. Robert Scott Kellner, who grew up in an orphanage in Connecticut, went in search of his grandfather fearing he was a Nazi and discovered these remarkable diaries. Dr. Kellner now uses these historical writings to ensure that such horrific crimes against humanity never again take place.  He challenges those who would deny history, including the President of Iran, to look within the pages of the diaries to learn the truth of Friedrich Kellner’s time and of our own. The New York premier will be at the United Nations in November 2008, and then in 2011, the Diaries will find their new home at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights to be opened in Winnipeg. Produced and directed by Toronto based Arnie Zipursky and Fern Levitt, and written by Fern Levitt, this courageous story is one audiences will not forget.

Tickets are available online at www.tijff.com, by phone 416-967-1528, or in person from April 16-May 4 at the TJFF office at 17 Madison Avenue Monday-Thursday 1pm-8pm, and Sunday 12pm-6pm.
