MONTREAL, CANADA – December 8, 2016 – CCI Productions, Banner Films, Vroom Productions, and Alley Lime Productions are pleased to announce commencement of principal photography on the feature film SOMEONE ELSE’S WEDDING.

The film revolves around a dysfunctional family who are forced to confront what tore them apart at their eldest son’s nuptials. In SOMEONE ELSE’S WEDDING, Matthew and Louisa are about to celebrate the biggest day of their lives, but the universe has something else in store – the perfect venue to hash out all family conflicts! It tells the story of Matthew and his step brother Kurt and their loving, but now separated parents (played by Kathleen Turner and Frances Fisher) during a hilarious three day period.

The ensemble cast includes: Golden Globe® winner and Oscar® and Grammy® nominee Kathleen Turner (Romancing the Stone, Body Heat), Kevin Zegers (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Transamerica), SAG® nominee Jessica Paré (Mad Men, Brooklyn), Jacob Tierney (The Trotsky, Good Neighbours), Jessica Parker Kennedy (50/50, In Time) with Luke Kirby (Take This Waltz, Mambo Italiano), Wallace Shawn (Princess Bride, Mozart in the Jungle) and SAG® nominee Frances Fisher (Titanic, House of Sand and Fog).

Pat Kiely (Three Night Stand, Who is KK Downey?) wrote and is directing the film. He will also serve as one of the producers, alongside Arnie Zipursky (CCI), Robert Vroom, and Philip Svoboda (Alley Lime). Jeff Sackman and Berry Meyerowitz are executive producing the feature. The shoot will take place in downtown Montreal.
“I am so thrilled to be working with such an exceptional and legendary cast to bring SOMEONE ELSE’S WEDDING to life” said director Pat Kiely. “This film is about a dysfunctional family at a wedding that no one wants to be at. The characters are loud and colorful, and seeing this group of actors embody them is like watching fireworks go off.”

SLED DOGS, DIRECTED BY FERN LEVITT, TAKES HOME TWO AWARDS FROM THE 2016 WHISTER FILM FESTIVAL: THE WORLD DOCUMENTARY AWARD AND BEST FEMALE-DIRECTED DOCUMENTARY

Sled Dogs, Directed by Fern Levitt,
Takes Home Two Awards from the 2016 Whistler Film Festival:The World Documentary Award And Best Female-Directed Documentary

December 5, 2016. Toronto. Sled Dogs, the controversial documentary, directed by Fern Levitt, that goes behind the scenes of commercial sled dog operations, has won two major awards at the Whistler Film Festival where it had its world premiere as part of Whistler’s Documentary Strand program.

The film won the World Documentary Award, sponsored by Super Channel, in a tie with The Will To Fly, and it also won the EDA Award for Best Female-Directed Documentary which was presented by The Alliance of Women Film Journalists

Sled Dogs follows four stories; a rookie Iditarod musher in Alaska sledding 1000 miles from Anchorage to Nome; the training of Lydia, a sled dog puppy at six months old; a dog sled operation that was under investigation in 2013 in Snow Mass, Colorado; and the 2010 sled dog cull in Whistler BC after which cries of outrage by the dog-loving public forced the provincial government to enact tougher legislation to protect these animals

Since being announced on November 2nd, Sled Dogs, the documentary has generated at great deal of controversy, with over 34,000 views on the trailers and over 500 posts, as well as many more posts connected to the news articles written about the film. The reactions are coming from both the pro-dog camp and the pro-musher camp.

“Thank you Whistler film festival for premiering our film. You honoured us and our film by including Sled Dogs to be part of your magnificent festival,” said Director Fern Levitt.

“I am glad the response to viewing the entire film (as opposed to only the trailer) has generated this important critical recognition. I heard many comments from the general public and respected film critics at the festival about how the film is well balanced. I am thrilled the film received these awards and look forward to more people seeing for the entire film as we continue the film festival circuit through 2017,” said Producer Arnie Zipursky.

Sled Dogs is directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker Fern Levitt (Paws for Autism, Little Rock Nine, Gorbachev’s Revolution, 7 Days of Remembrance & Hope) with breathtaking footage captured by award-winning cinematographer Matt Gallagher (Dog’s Life, How to Prepare for Prison, The Motherload), the film provides an exhilarating cinematic experience. The film is produced by Slater-Brody Productions Ltd. in association with the documentary Channel and Canada Media Fund with the participation of Rogers Cable Network Fund.

Generates Overwhelming Reaction Leading up to World Premiere at Whistler

November 29, 2016. Toronto. Since being announced on November 2nd, Sled Dogs, directed by Fern Levitt, the documentary that goes behind the scenes of commercial sled dog operations, has generated over 30,000 views on the trailers and over 500 posts, as well as many more posts connected to the news articles written about the film.

All of these social media reactions have been based on nothing but the trailers. The film can be seen in its entirety when it has its world premiere at the 2016 Whistler Film Festival Whistler’s Documentary Strand program on December 3rd, with a second screening on December 4th.

The reactions are coming from both the pro-dog camp and the pro-musher camp.

“Debate over the commercial sled dog industry has ground to a halt since the 2010 Whistler massacre was announced.  Our film, Sled Dogs, brings this issue right back to the forefront where it belongs.  The fact that there is so much controversy proves that this film has something important to say,” said Director Fern Levitt.

SLED DOGS, DORECTED BY FERN LEVITT, THE FIRST DOCUMENTARY TO REVEAL THE TRUCH ABOIUT COMMERCIAL SLED DOG OPERATIONS, TO HAVE WORLD PREMIER AT 2016 WHISTLER FILM FESTIVAL

Sled Dogs, Directed by Fern Levitt,
The First Documentary to Reveal the Truth About Commercial Sled Dog Operations, To Have World Premiere at 2016 Whistler Film Festival

November 2, 2016. Toronto. Following today’s official announcement by the Whistler Film Festival, CCI Entertainment and Documentary Channel are thrilled to celebrate the selection of SLED DOGS to be screened as part of Whistler’s Documentary Strand program. That the film’s world premiere will take place so close to where, in 2010, 100 sled dogs were brutally murdered, sparking outrage throughout North America, is particularly poignant.

“This film comes at a critical moment when the public is waking up to the treatment of animals and demanding change. The audience will be outraged when they discover the legal abuse of ‘man’s best friend’ under the guise of sport and entertainment. This is a timely documentary and a definitive call for action,” said director Fern Levitt. “I am thrilled that our film will premiere at the Whistler Film Festival as it was here that the world first learned the truth about how dogs are treated in the tourism industry.”

“The power of the documentary in today’s world is all about educating the audience on a variety of issues and, in the case of SLED DOGS, what our cameras discovered in this investigative film will allow the audience to also witness and decide for themselves after they screen the entire film what is the truth about commercial dog sled operations,” added Producer Arnie Zipursky.

Sled Dogs provides a raw and uncompromising glimpse at an industry that needs to shape up; audiences won’t look at dogs or dog-sledding in the same way again,” said Bruce Cowley, senior director of documentary Channel.

Immediately after the 2010 sled dog cull, cries of outrage by the dog-loving public forced the provincial government to enact tougher legislation to protect these animals. But did they? Similar to the award-winning films, The Cove and Blackfish, Sled Dogs is the first documentary to discover a shattering reality far removed from the billboards that beckon tourists to come for the “ride of their life, pulled by a team of huskies.”

SLED DOGS follow four distinct, but interrelated stories, filmed on location throughout Alaska, Colorado, Wyoming, Quebec, British Columbia, and Ontario.

Directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker Fern Levitt (Paws for Autism, Little Rock Nine, Gorbachev’s Revolution, 7 Days of Remembrance & Hope) with breathtaking footage captured by award-winning cinematographer Matt Gallagher (Dog’s Life, How to Prepare for Prison, The Motherload), the film provides an exhilarating cinematic experience. Toronto. October 29, 2015 Corus Entertainment and Telefilm Canada announced today that principal photography has wrapped on the first theatrical production selected from the Family Feature Production Fund. The Family Feature Fund was launched with the goal to increase production of Canadian-English language live-action family movies. Slated for release in 2016, Operation Insanity (working title) is a comedy feature produced by CCI Entertainment Ltd. and stars Academy Award® Golden Globe® and Primetime Emmy® nominee, James Caan (The Godfather, Misery, Las Vegas, Dogville) and newcomer Dylan Everett (Degrassi: The Next Generation, Wingin’ It, The Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story).

Directed by Erik Canuel (Bon Cop, Bad Cop, 19-2, Flashpoint), Operation Insanity is about a shy, 17-year-old boy (Dylan Everett) who teams up with his “senile” grandpa, played by James Caan, and his war veteran crew to save the girl of his dreams.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Telefilm on the first project from our Family Feature Production Fund slate of movies,” said Colin Bohm, Executive Vice President, Head of Corus Kids. “CCI has done a terrific job of delivering a compelling script and a stellar cast. This first film is a great start to broadening our content ownership.”

Michel Pradier, Telefilm’s Director of Project Financing, added: “Considering that younger Canadians are the heaviest consumers of films in the country, this public- private partnership with Corus Entertainment is an exciting collaboration that brings together resources in order to better achieve theatrical success of family films.”

Operation Insanity also features a stellar supporting ensemble cast which includes Academy Award®, Golden Globe® and Primetime Emmy® winner Lou Gossett Jr. (The Book of Negroes, Boardwalk Empire, An Officer and a Gentleman, A Raisin in the Sun), Kenneth Welsh (The Day After Tomorrow, The Aviator, The Last Exorcism of Emily Rose), Golden Globe®, Primetime Emmy® and SAG® nominee Jessica Walter (Archer, Arrested Development, Play Misty for Me), SAG® nominee Paul Sorvino (Nixon, The Cooler, Goodfellas, The Godfather), Lawrence Dane (Bride of Chucky, Scanners, Deliverance) and Greta Oneiogo (Heroes Reborn, Heartland).

“Operation Insanity may well be the biggest family feature to come out of Canada. We have an outstanding international cast who will bring their vitality and talent to this timeless story of generational bonding brought to life in an inventive, adventurous and hilarious new way,” said Producer Arnie Zipursky. “We are elated to be the first feature selected as part of the Corus/Telefilm Fund. CCI has appreciated the creative collaboration with Corus over these many years.”

Based on a screenplay written by Jeffrey Alan Schechter (Overruled!, Strange Days at Blake Holsey High), Operation Insanity is produced by Arnie Zipursky (Iron Road, Anything But Christmas, The Ride), and Ronald J. Gilbert (The Moth Diaries, Magic Beyond Words: The J.K. Rowling Story, the Long Hot Summer). Zipursky will also serve as Executive Producer with CCI’s Charles Falzon, along with Jeff Sackman (Forsaken, Backcountry, The Art of the Steal) of TAJJ Media and Noah Segal (Dr. Cabbie, Our Man in Tehran, The Art of the Steal) of Elevation Pictures. Principal photography runs from September 24 through November 2 in the Toronto area.

Operation Insanity will be distributed theatrically in Canada by Elevation Pictures. “We are excited to work with Corus Entertainment and CCI Entertainment on this project,” said Noah Segal, Co-President of Elevation Pictures “Hot off the heels of our success with Shaun the Sheep: The Movie, we look forward to adding this fantastic family film to our diverse release slate.”

The Family Feature Production Fund contributes financing for up to two English- language theatrical family feature films each year, including international treaty co-productions. The initiative is open to Canadian feature film producers from across the country with a fully developed film script and a comprehensive plan for market viability. Corus and Telefilm jointly evaluate eligible applications, and once selections have been made a portion of the film’s budget will be supported by the two organizations. Selected projects will receive financial investment from Corus Entertainment as well as broadcast commitment and marketing support from its portfolio of family and film networks including Movie Central, W Movies, YTV, TELETOON, Disney Channel, ABC Spark and CMT.

The Fremantle Corporation and CCI Entertainment enter into co-distribution agreement on CCI Releasing’s library of drama, lifestyle and factual titles

Toronto, Canada – February 26, 2015 – The Fremantle Corporation (TFC) and CCI Entertainment announced today a strategic distribution relationship on CCI Releasing’s drama, lifestyle and factual library for international distribution heading into MIPTV.

The library includes two new lifestyle series Real Houses (20×30’), produced by CCI Productions, Hemmings House and Talons of Venice and Cubicle to the Cage (12×30) produced by Hemmings House, in addition to four food/lifestyle series, four documentary features and two features – a total of 83 hours available worldwide.

As one of Canada’s leading producers, CCI will turn its full focus on creating content across all genres.

“The exceptional library Charles and Arnie have built fits perfectly within our own as we continue our expansion plans,” said Brad Pelman, CEO The Fremantle Corporation.  “We are delighted to partner with CCI Entertainment to bring their quality programming to the worldwide market.”

“We are excited to partner with The Fremantle Corporation on the distribution of both our library content and our current production slate,” said Co-Founder and Executive Producer Charles Falzon. “We look forward to focusing on a very robust and diverse development slate and on new business opportunities,” said Co-Founder and Executive Producer Arnie Zipursky.

Real Houses (20×30’) features ordinary people with extraordinary homes in unexpected places.  Each episode features different neighbourhoods – from Santa Barbara to Halifax, Brooklyn to Houston – showcasing local houses with one-of-a kind style and personality, just like the people who own them.  Real Houses isn’t about outrageous celebrity pads or professionally decorated monster pads.  It’s about personality.  Unique verses cookie-cutter decorating, a celebration of inspiration over style.

Cubicle to the Cage (12×30’) is a new docu-soap about a group of ordinary people on an extraordinary year-long journey to become professional Mixed Martial Arts fighters.  It is a celebration of unusual passion and courage in average people who refuse to accept their mundane life and are willing to push beyond whatever they thought they could endure or achieve.  This hard-hitting documentary is a raw depiction of the stress and violence that is MMA. It’s a multi-faceted journey of self-discovery, on a physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual level.

Acquired series include: food and travel journeys Avventura: Journeys in Italian Cuisine (26×30’) with David Rocco, Entrada: Journeys in Latin American Cuisine (26×30’) with Roanna Sabeh-Azar; and Panasia (26×30’) with Sian Richard introducing the sights, sounds, cuisine and culture of Asia; and the lifestyle series Stylin’ Gypsies (26x 30’) produced by Aphrodite Films, which delivers fun and mayhem as a band of irreverent and entertaining Gypsies travel from town to town surprising locals with head-to-toe makeovers, leaving a wake of glamour, glitz and gorgeous gals.

CCI Produced documentary features include:  7 Days of Remembrance, a journey by six Canadian university students to the concentration camps of Poland; Each of Us Has a Name, which documents the pilgrimage of thousands of teens and survivors to Poland as they experience the horrors of the remnants of the Nazi concentration camps; Living Through Dying, an honest and heart-warming tribute to those living with a terminal illness; and Paws for Autism, which follows two autistic children and their service dogs.

Two CCI feature films complete the slate.  The Ride is a fast-paced, unpredictable journey into darkness, following the lives of six taxicab drivers over a weekend.  Sex, psychopaths and soul searching, it’s just another typical weekend for the cabbies at City Cab.  Row Your Boat, is an action-packed adventure and high budget theatrical release starring Jon Bon Jovi and Bai Ling, and featuring a stellar soundtrack produced by Grammy award-winner Phil Ramone.  An ex-con desperately trying to get his life on the tracks meets and falls in love with a beautiful Chinese woman.  Their friendship blossoms into love, in a test for survival in the midst of danger and corruption that will change their lives forever.
